Third Eye Chakra
Day 2
Parts of the Body Governed
Symptoms of Healthy, Over Active and Closed Chakra

The third eye chakra, or brow chakra, governs the mind (thought processes), eyes, ears, nose, pituitary gland (and sometimes the pineal gland), circadian rhythm also known as our body clock, skull, brain and neurological system.

The pituitary gland, located at the base of the brain, is important in controlling growth and development as well as the functioning of the other endocrine glands. The hormones that this gland produces help control physical growth, blood pressure, some functions of the sex organs, the thyroid glands, metabolism, some aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, nursing, the kidneys and the water/salt concentration, regulation of our body’s temperature and pain relief.

Circadian rhythm is our body’s 24 hour clock. It regulates how our body and mind functions throughout the day according to the time of day that our body is used to. For example: If you normally go to bed when it is dark outside that triggers the body’s clock that it is time to sleep. It also triggers symptoms of hunger or even going to the bathroom. If we go to the restroom at the same time for a number of days then it can imprint within the circadian rhythm acting as an alarm of sorts when that same time comes about. I have a funny little story about this… When I was in the 5th grade in elementary school we always had to raise our hand if we have a question or needed something. Well for some reason, I was having the need to go to the restroom at a certain time of day every day. At first my teacher was ok with it but it became a nuisance and he would get very upset with me after a week of this happening. In order to break that cycle that I had gotten myself into, I had to wait till the bell rang which was an hour away. The first couple of days was almost unbearable but I finally broke the cycle. This is a perfect example of how we can change or manipulate our circadian rhythm.

The circadian rhythm also affects our sleep patterns which can cause us to be weak and tired if it has changed abruptly. When an abrupt change occurs it can also disrupt eating habits and many other quality functions.

Sleep is also governed by this chakra which is scientifically known to be one of the absolute necessary things we need to have in order to grow physically and mentally, keeps our body healthy, and allows us to function in our daily lives. Having no sleep can cause many problems within our body and our mind. It helps to regulate pain and trauma. It is an essential function of everyday life.

Keeping these things in mind, below are symptoms that can occur when this chakra is unbalanced as well as closed. Because this chakra governs our mind it is vitally important that we keep this chakra as balanced as possible.

Let’s take a look at what a HEALTHY chakra looks like first.

The State of Mind of someone with a healthy open chakra has no fear of death, no attachment to material things, may experience telepathy, astral travel and past lives. They have a positive outlook on life and are not selfish. They can think clearly and have positive thoughts. They are also in a relaxed, go with the flow, kind of mood which allows them to tap into their inner wisdom and intuition with ease.

The Physical Symptoms of someone with a healthy open chakra have good eyesight, do not experience sinus issues, do not have frequent headaches and they usually get a good night’s rest and have a feeling restfulness.

A lot of times, someone with a strong state of mind can overcome any obstacle with physical difficulties so your state of mind is key.

Now let’s move on to symptoms of an OVERACTIVE chakra.

The State of Mind of someone with an overactive chakra can be egotistical, they may feel they are drowning in a sea of psychic information that they can’t make sense of, they may experience hallucinations, they are judgmental, they suffer from anxiety, they suffer from mental fog, feel overwhelmed and are sometimes paranoid.

The Physical Symptoms of someone with a closed chakra can include: Headaches, vision problems, seizures, insomnia, nausea and sinus problems.

Last but not least symptoms of a CLOSED chakra.

The State of Mind of someone with a closed chakra can feel non-assertive, afraid of success, un-selfish to the point they are taken advantage of, fear death, excessively worry about things out of their control, they are stuck in analytical mode, they tend to feel lost with no sense of purpose and they usually have a hard time letting go of control.

The Physical Symptoms of someone with a closed chakra can include: Headaches, blurred vision, eyestrain, sinus problems, neurological disorders and problems with the ears.

Now I know that could be a lot of you… I’ve even got some of those symptoms but just because we are suffering from these types of ailments does not mean that getting your chakra aligned and balanced will cure everything. Your state of mind plays a big role in that as well.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms whether they are physical or mind related, PLEASE seek professional medical help as this information is not a diagnoses by any means. While working on balancing your chakras is important… so is letting your doctor know what problems you are facing.

If you are a Reiki Practitioner, knowing these things can help with which chakras to work with the most.

So tomorrow, we will take a look at what crystals and stones will aid in the balancing of this chakra.

In Love & Light Always,
Carol ~ Mama Owl
