Third Eye Chakra
Day 1
The Basics
Our Third Eye Chakra is the seat of wisdom and of consciousness. It is located in the brain, centered just above our eyebrows. Seeing the inner and outer world is the ability of this chakra. Clear thought, spiritual contemplation and self-reflection are things we experience within the third eye. When we look at our outer world we begin to contemplate what impact our surroundings have on us. That process brings our outer world internally with the opposite working as well. For instance, we think about things we would like to have in our life such as… a new home, we then begin to picture in our mind what this new home would look like and how we would fit in it thus creating an inner world. By looking for this new home we start to manifest what we see in our inner world being created in our outer world.
Thought is usually in pictures but not always. I recently did a mini-study on what people see in their minds when they work out a problem in their head. It was fascinating to say the least! I interviewed 50 people and found that the majority of them think in pictures but 5 only think in words. No pictures. This was their first reaction but digging deeper with these people, 3 discovered that they do see pictures in their head when thinking about objects. Let me give you an example: One of those 3 people I interviewed is a military veteran. One of his jobs while in the military was flying in airplanes. He was one of the guys that would push shipments out of the back of an airplane that would parachute down to its destination. Unfortunately, these locations were not friendly so they were being shot at a lot. Very high stress. To get to those locations they would sit in the back of the plane for some time so what he would do to keep himself distracted was dismantle and re-assemble car engines in his mind. So, by going back to one of the things he did as a regular occurrence made him realize that he does think in pictures. Of course that’s a very drastic example but it makes you think about it none-the-less. Some people think in color and some in black and white. Another thing I found fascinating is those who think in words, no pictures at all, were male and seem to be closed minded about spirituality. Very interesting little study.
Our spiritual lessons of the third eye chakra is learning to look at different perspectives, taking action on our ideas, utilizing our insight and getting that reality check we all need from time to time. Also, seeing clearly (symbolically or literally), wisdom, intuition, mental facilities and our intellect is what is stored within this chakra. Self-reflection is important here. When we self-reflect, we see what patterns we have been experiencing which helps us to learn from our mistakes and that will also help us accept what we receive from our intuition. Accepting our wisdom and intellect also assists in strengthening our intuition.
The challenge for this chakra is determining what illusion is and what is not. Ever hear of the term “double take”? That is when you cannot believe what you just saw so you have to look at it again to reassure yourself that it’s real. This can happen with physical things as well as non-physical. It is common for a clairvoyant to question what they are seeing with their minds eye when they are first developing the ability. It can be very disturbing discovering that you can see things that no one else can see.
The psychic ability associated with the third eye chakra is clairvoyance which means “clear seeing”.
