The Basics (Day 1)

The root chakra, otherwise known as the Base chakra, is the foundation of the whole of the chakra system. It is located at the base of your spine and gives us a feeling of security and strength. It connects us to the world much like a tree and its roots. It is our support.

This chakra embraces our energy surrounding survival, material comforts, our awareness of reality, our physical being and the feelings of “I am”, “I exist”. When we ground ourselves it is through this chakra because it connects us to the earth… the physical aspect of this plane of existence.

The aspects that are stored in this chakra are that of familial beliefs, superstitions, loyalty, instincts, physical pleasure and pain, our sense of touch and the feeling of “To have”. Because this chakra revolves around the physical, it is where we experience material world lessons such as money, career, and material possessions.
